With the Bears coaching staff making the decision to go with Rex Grossman, it makes many fans wonder what they are thinking. Let me tell you.
The Bears are 4-5. Last year they were 8-1 at this point so they were going to play with the guy who seriously gave them the best chance of winning. This year, Brian might give them a slightly better chance of winning, but not enough to put Rex out there, let him develop, and see if he is a guy who they want to resign at the end of the year. Brian has not helped his case by throwing 10 INTs in the 6 games that he has started, and not moving the offense in the Raiders game, so the Bears might really feel like Rex gives them a better chance of winning. We all have seen that Rex at his best is better than Griese at his best, and it is worth it to try to get Rex back to his good self. Overall, I think the decision is now just as much developing a quarterback and evaluation as much as it is about winning games. Whether you like it or not, it is a very long shot for the Bears to get into the playoffs, and an even longer shot for them to win the Superbowl – So why not do all that you can to make sure your team is as good as it can be for next year, and that starts with trying to get Rex back to the MVP of the month form, that we saw last year.
