Is Chester Taylor the odd man out?

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

In my honest opinion, it just seems like Chester Taylor is the odd man out in Chicago’s offense. Well one of them anyway. This just pertains to the running backs. Same could go for Harvey Unga, who has missed a lot of practice due to personal reasons.

Chester Taylor just doesn’t seem to fit in well with the offense. He didn’t look too spectacular last season and he’s not looking any better so far this preseason. All anyone is ever talking about is Matt Forte, Marion Barber and Kahlil Bell. I think they should either find a right scheme to fit in with Taylor or trade him like they did with Greg Olsen. Right now the Bears have a plethora of running backs.I love using the word plethora, haha.

Anyways, it just seems like he doesn’t fit in. That all could change soon, but it’s likely in my opinion that the Bears will either cut or trade him. That’s just my opinion anyway. What’s yours?

Bears vs Bills

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

Tonight’s preseason match up, our Chicago Bears vs Buffalo Bills. First preseason game for the Bears and I’m excited. Unfortunately due to my location, I will not be able to see the game live :( Thankfully there will be a repeat of it on the NFL Network tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully it won’t be a complete disaster. Anyways, here’s what to look for.

  • Cutler’s footwork and mobility
  • Caleb Hanie
  • Mike Martz offense
  • Offensive line
    • Rookie Gabe Carimi is starting at right tackle and Roberto Garza is at center.
  • New veteran free agent acquisitions on offense
    • Roy Williams, Matt Spaeth, Marion Barber and Sam Hurd
  • Un-drafted free agent wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher
    • Training camp stand out. From what I’ve heard he’s making great catches and plays in training camp and could possibly be a big factor down the road.
  • Defensive line
    • Corey Wootton, Stephen Paea, Vernon Gholston, Amobi Okoye and Matt Toeaina
  • Secondary
    • Linebackers are pretty much the same except Roach is starting in place of Pisa. Expect the same great defense from last year’s secondary crew. Watch out for Wright, Conte
  • Special Teams
    • Adam Podlesh instead of Brad Maynard punting this year
Last but not least, watch out for the Soldier Field turf. Never know what could happen really. They are saying everything is a go but you can still see the seams on the turf. Let’s just hope it doesn’t come apart and causes any injuries. Here’s hoping that this preseason is injury free for the Bears.
I’m pretty confident that the Bears are going to win this game, but you can never tell in preseason eh?

Free Agency

Saturday, August 6th, 2011

The Bears signed a lot of big name free agents this year, most of them on offense. The three signings that surprised me the most was the three ex Cowboys they inked. WR Sam Hurd and RB Marion Barber were signed to multi-year contracts and WR Roy Williams was inked for just a one year contract. I’m very pleased they went after wide receivers this year, and a good back up running back in Marion Barber.

I just hope they all keep their excessive Cowboy celebrations off the field. That’s one thing I really didn’t like about Barber or Williams. I believe Marion Barber and Roy Williams will be making immediate impacts to the offense this season. Not so sure about Sam Hurd though. I could be wrong.

I do know that the competition at Running Back will be fairly interesting. Matt Forte, Chester Taylor, Marion Barber and Kahlil Bell are fighting for a spot on the roster. We all know Forte will be the number one back, but who will be second on the depth chart?

The Bears also signed a few other key free agents. Center Chris Spencer from Seattle who will eventually take over at Center, Tight End Matt Spaeth from Pittsburgh who will basically replace Greg Olsen, Defensive End Vernon Gholston from the Jets, Defensive Tackle Amobi Okoye from the Texans and Punter Adam Podlesh from the Jaguars. Yes the Bears signed a punter to a five year deal, thus sending Maynard on his way out. It will be weird not to see Brad out on the field, but after last season I think it was time. I like the guy, but he just wasn’t playing too well over the past few years.

The Bears also resigned Anthony Adams, Corey Graham, Brian Iwuh, Kahlil Bell, Caleb Hanie, Edwin Williams, Nick Roach,  Will Ta’ufo’ou (hoping he makes the final roster). Very happy they were able to resign these guys. Hopefully Anthony Adams is reading this blog, go Spice! Saw your training camp dance on the Bears website, hopefully that will bring good luck to the Bears this year.

From what people are telling me, the Bears still have around 20 million cap space still left. They should use that to beef up the offensive line some more so Jay Cutler doesn’t spend most of the year in the turf. Just my opinion anyway.

So overall this free agency so far has been alright. Even though I didn’t like seeing Olin and Greg go. It will be strange not to see them on the Bears this year…

2011 Chicago Bears Draft Review

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

I was very excited this year that the Bears finally had a first round draft pick. I was also very pleased that they spent it on someone actually they needed. With their first round draft pick, they selected offensive tackle Gabe Carimi from Wisconsin. I couldn’t be happier with this selection. I even had him in my Bears mock draft. I was ecstatic when he was still available when the Bears were on the clock. It was a complete no brainer for them. What Gabe will add to the Bears is instant depth and could actually be starting in game one if there is football this year. He’s that type of player. He’s constantly working and is a close friend to the Tice family. So he’s always a phone call away from Mike Tice.

In the second round the Bears traded up after Marvin Austin was taken to draft defensive tackle Stephen Paea from Oregon State. He was a staple in the OSU’s defense. He was slated to go in the first round but due to a minor knee injury he dropped. From what I’ve read and heard it’s nothing serious and the upside of Stephen is the reason why the Bears traded up to grab him. He also has extreme upper body strength. He displayed that at the combine by doing 49 bench reps and setting a NFL Combine record. I don’t think he will be starting a lot in his rookie year due that his knee still needs to recovery for a bit, but I do expect him to make an immediate impact when does start.

In the third round the Bears grabbed safety Chris Conte from California. I initially was a bit dumbfounded with this selection but I had read a number of times that it was a reach to get him in the third round. He was slated to go in the 7th or go as an undrafted free agent. After a good nights rest and watching videos of him at the combine changed my mind. It looks like he’s a very athletic safety and could very well be starting one day for the Bears, or at least be second on the depth chart. The only downfall is that he only started one season. I’m really hoping that the football season starts soon so the coaches and veterans can teach him and mentor him on how to play in the NFL.

Since the Bears traded up in the second round, they didn’t have a fourth round draft pick. So in the fifth round, Jerry Angelo stunned us all by selecting a QB. The Bears selected quarterback Nathan Enderle from Idaho. From what I’ve read and seen he’s a good third string development quarterback for the Bears. He put up some good numbers at Idaho, which could be one of the reasons why they selected him. I have nothing against the guy, but since the bears have a franchise QB and a proven back up in Caleb Hanie. I would of loved to see them draft another offensive linemen in the fifth. One of my initial mock drafts had Marcus Cannon in it and I was hoping they would take him or Justin Boren. Once again I don’t dislike the guy or think he’s a bad player, I just would of preferred a different pick.

With the final pick of the Bears draft, they selected Linebacker J.T. Thomas from West Virginia University. I think this could be a steal. He instantly adds depth to the linebacker core and could very well start on special teams right away. I really like this pick. I was expecting the Bears to grab another offensive linemen, but they grabbed Thomas instead. He’s a great player and could very well be a star for the Bears in the future. One thing the Bears do know is their linebackers. They always seem to have the best depth in the league.

Overall I give this draft a B-/+. What do you think the draft grade for the Bears this year is?

Hunter Hillenmeyer’s letter to the Tribune – A Must Read -

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Grateful Hillenmeyer uncertain about his future
February 28, 2011 1:53 PM
By Brad Biggs

His release earlier Monday from the Chicago Bears did not come as a surprise to Hunter Hillenmeyer.

Off the record, the veteran linebacker said months ago that he expected the club to release him after the season. That’s what happened when he was included in a news release along with defensive tackle Tommie Harris and offensive tackle Kevin Shaffer.

Hillenmeyer was placed on injured reserve after Week 1 with concussion symptoms related to a head injury he suffered in preseason. Hillenmeyer has not passed a team physical yet and if head injuries lead to the end of his career, it will be interesting to see if he pursues the base salary of $1.8 million he had remaining on his contract for the 2011 season.

In an email to the Tribune, Hillenmeyer said, “I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Bears organization. I do not leave this franchise bitter or feeling slighted by anyone in the building. In truth, I’ve known this day was coming since I landed on IR back in September.

In that conversation with Lovie (Smith), he acknowledged that having been made aware of my history, and the number of concussions I had sustained on his watch, that he could not be a part of forcing me back out on the field.

“While at the time I was frustrated with such an abrupt end to my season, I have sought out and continue to seek the medical opinions of the best doctors in country as it relates to brain health and concussions. I am yet to find one that thinks it is a good idea to continue playing football. In hindsight, that makes me grateful that Lovie cared enough about me specifically, but really any player, to take that decision away as it pertains to a medical issue.

“Barring some unforeseen turn of events, I don’t think there was a set of circumstances where I would have been cleared to play next season anyway. The more we pull back the curtain on the long-term effects of head injury, the scarier it gets for players in my position, who have multiple diagnosed concussions and countless more ‘dings’ and headaches.

On one hand, I feel lucky to have been relatively candid about my symptoms compared to some colleagues who do everything they can to conceal their struggles. I can only thank the Bears organization, from the trainers and the doctors up to Lovie and Jerry (Angelo), for trying to be proactive in the way concussions are handled. On the other hand, any player who tells you they aren’t affected by the tragic stories like Dave Duerson’s, that seem to be popping up all too often, are lying.

“I’d like to thank coach (Bob) Babich, my linebacker coach for most of my eight years here, for playing as integral a role as anyone in my development as a player. It’s been an honor to play for such a professional staff and with such outstanding teammates. We had a very special group in our linebacker room. While I was always like Ringo of the Beatles, next to such a talented pair, I think we have had the best and deepest linebacking corps in the NFL for a long time. As long as Lance (Briggs) and Brian (Urlacher) are out there together, expect the Bear’s defense to remain elite.

“While I won’t be filing any retirement papers tomorrow, if I’ve played my last football game, I’m glad it was with the Bears. Even though I was drafted elsewhere, I have absolutely loved my time as Bear. I love the city, I love the culture; the fans here make it especially easy to feel very at home in Chicago. I think guys like me who spend all of their career here don’t realize how good they’ve got it. It’s been a great ride nonetheless.”

I will always have the utmost respect for Hunter Hillenmeyer. I don’t know where he’ll end up, but if he ends up retiring I would love to see him on the Bears coaching staff one of these days. He is easily one of the smartest players in the league and I always enjoyed watching him play. He was definitely a steal and I’m glad that the Packers cut him.

Final Stats with the Bears
Tackles: 382
Sacks. 7
Interceptions: 2
Pass Deflections: 12
Forced Fumbles: 7

So long Hunter, hope to see you soon with the Bears again.

NFC Championship Bears vs Packers

Friday, January 21st, 2011

I’m sure you heard from literally every sports fan, this will be the second time these two franchises play against each other in the post season. I’ve heard it like a billion times from the NFL Network, ESPN, and read it everywhere all over the internet. I am quite sick and tired of it, but that’s okay. It involves the Bears and I think it’s time to improve that record to 2-0 against the Packers in the postseason.

For the Bears offense to take control of this game, the line needs to block and Jay Cutler needs to make smart decisions. The wide receivers also need to play smart as well. If they don’t run the right route it will end badly. They also need to be extremely physical. Anyway, let’s start off with the offensive line. Ever since the bye week they have improved greatly. They’ve taken a few stumbles here and there, but for the most part they have been improving. You saw it a lot last Sunday against Seattle. It was a thing of beauty seeing the line giving so much time for Jay Cutler on numerous plays. They also opened up holes for Matt Forte and Chester Taylor. Something they’ll have to do again against the Packers. Last time they played them in week 17, Forte had 15 carries for 91 yards. If he’s able to do that plus get an extra 5 carries or so, he will have a field day against the Packers.  Now onto the wide outs. Everyone of those receivers need play their best football. It is key that they run the right routes and play physical. If they can’t do either of those things, then Cutler will have a long ugly day. Speaking of Jay, he needs to do a few things. Needs to stay focused, pressure free, make smart decisions and don’t let the Packers get to him. He needs to throw the ball away instead of taking a sack. Just chuck the ball out of bounds in the area of a eligible receiver. He also needs to throw the ball away if no one is open. It’s not worth the risk of throwing it in double or triple coverage, especially in the playoffs. If he’s able to stay away from bad decisions and sacks, he will have a great game.

Now it’s the defense’s turn. They played outstanding against Seattle last week and Green Bay in week 17. The score was a bit deceiving, they gave up a lot of garbage yards in the prevent defense. Not to mention Matt Forte threw an interception and a tip of the ball gave the Seahawks a touchdown. Other than that, it was a complete shut down of the Seahawks offense. The same offense that ripped the Saints apart. Unfortunately the Bears defense didn’t get a lot of credit because it was Seattle, but I swear if it went the other way we’d be hearing how that offense is one of the best in the league. That’s how it goes in the media, no respect for the Bears. I wonder if the Bears have a huge banner in their locker room that says “NO RESPECT!” Anyways, the key to this game on defense is forcing turnovers. They need to force fumbles and intercept Aaron Rodgers. Something the Bears are pretty good at. I”m really hoping they pick Rodgers off at least two times.

The only way that can happen is if they get pressure up front. Peppers, Harris, Idonije, Adams, Toeaina, Melton and Wootton need to get pressure from the start of the game and to the end. If they are able to pressure and contain Rodgers I have a great feeling that the Bears defensive backs and linebackers will be able cover Green Bay’s receivers if they are able to pressure Rodgers. Everyone on the defense needs to be on their game. They cannot give up the big plays. You saw what the Packers did to the Falcons last week. The Falcons defense gave up way too many big plays and now they’re out of the playoffs. It’s simple as that, but it necessarily won’t be an easy thing to stop. Another thing the Bears need to do is stop the Packers run game. Kuhn and Starks is a deadly combo. They can’t underestimate those two like the Eagles did. With that being said, the Bears need to pressure Aaron Rodgers, create turnovers, stop the run and don’t give up big plays. If they are able to do all of that, the Bears defense should dominate this game.

Special teams will play a big part in Sundays game. Field position is a key and I think the Bears will win that easily if the defense does their thing. I truly believe that Devin Hester will have a few chances to run one back and I think he will. This game has punt/kick return for a touchdown by Hester written all over it. Robbie Gould needs to be gold as usual and Brad Maynard needs to boot the ball. Can’t give the Packers good field position.

Alright folks here’s my prediction….

Final Score
BEARS 24
Packers 20

Bears vs Seahawks

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

So the Seahawks come back to Chicago again in the playoffs. If you don’t remember, the Bears faced the Seahawks in this very same game in 2006. They also played the Bears earlier this year and ended up beating the good guys in an ugly game. Bears offense was horrid and the only highlight of the game really was Devin Hester returning one to the house. This time it will be different and Chicago will be going to the NFC Championship.

The Bears offense was completely out of sync and just looked awful. They were 0-12 on third downs and Jay Cutler was sacked six times. He also didn’t have any touchdowns in that game as well. It was just a bad day to be on offense for the Bears. Of course the Bears offense has improved greatly thanks to the bye week miracle. Since then they have been one of most balanced offenses in the NFL. Jay Cutler’s has had some ups and downs since then, but he did finish the season with more touchdowns than interceptions. The only thing that worries me about Jay Cutler coming into this game is that it will be his first playoff game of his career.  Odd as it sounds he has never been to the playoffs. If he’s able to overcome the playoff jitters he will be able to win this game. The Seahawks defense is shaky at best in my opinion and their key player on defense,  Lofa Tatupu is coming off a concussion he received in Saints game. The Bears offense is a completely different animal and they should be able to run the ball efficiently. Matt Forte has been on fire since the bye week, he’s averaging 4.9 yards per carry. If he’s able to continue that. he should be able to take it to the Seahawks. With that being said, if the offensive line blocks for Jay Cutler and Matt Forte, they should win this game.

The Bears defense is coming off a pretty solid outing against the Packers in the last week of the season. Even though the Bears lost that game, they looked solid on defense. Losing a game by just one touchdown is pretty good considering they had nothing to play for. I think they will have a great game against the Seahawks this Sunday. There should be nothing holding them back, playing all out Bears defense. I expect a lot of blitzes and hard hitting from Rod Marinelli’s defense. One thing they have watch out for is Seattle WR Mike Williams. He had 10 catches for 123 yards. He tore up the Bears defense last game, but things have changed. Bears are a better complete team on defense now. With the exception of the Patriots and Jets game, they have been rock solid since the bye week. Oh and I don’t expect another ‘Beast Mode’ play by Lynch against the Bears. I can’t think of any running back doing that against the Bears this season and it’s sure as heck is not going to be him. Julius Peppers already said that wouldn’t happen. I’m really hoping that the secondary just dominates and creates lots of turnovers for the Bears. Same goes for the front four, I want to see sacks and forced fumbles. Just a complete and utter domination by them would make me happy.

The Bears special teams should be pretty solid like usual. They have been kicking and taking names all year long and I expect that to continue Sunday. Robbie Gould, Brad Maynard and Devin Hester all have playoff experience and should play mistake free football. I would really like to see Hester run one back again. I don’t think it would count towards his record because it’s the playoffs but it sure would be nice.

Bears win this game and advance to the NFC Championship

Final Score
Bears 28
Seahawks 14

Bears vs Packers

Saturday, January 1st, 2011

It’s the last game of the regular season and the Bears have a chance to keep the Packers out of the playoffs. It is a great day for Bears fans, to keep the hated rivals up north out of the playoffs. If you’re wondering if Lovie will sit anyone, he won’t. He already said that everyone would be starting, as they should be. Last time the Bears were heading into the playoffs with a first round bye was in 2006 and their last game of the year was against the pack. That was a horrendous game, Grossman had a QB rating of zero if I remember right. That won’t happen again though. Bears are a completely different animal since 2006 and will come into this game looking for a win.

I think people will be looking at the Bears offense differently after the Jets game. When firing on all cylinders, they are easily the most explosive offense in the league next to the Patriots.Which is something the Packers will have to respect and if they don’t, it will be a great day for Jay Cutler. For that to happen though, the Bears offensive line will have to block Defensive Player of the Year candidate Clay Matthews. They need to protect Cutler on Sunday and create holes for Forte and Taylor to run through. If they want to win, that’s what they need to key on offense. The receivers also will have to be on their game as well, get separation from the DB’s and go after the ball like they did against the Jets. They need to aggressive and don’t give up, simple as that.

The Bears defense will have to create a lot of turnovers and three and outs in this game to win this game. Aaron Rodgers was on fire against the Giants. The Giants were coming off a horrible loss against the Eagles where their offense and defense imploded and basically just gave away the win. The Bears front four need to generate pressure like they did against the Packers earlier in the year. Which led to a record 18 penalties by the Packers. Peppers caused a lot of those penalties while trying bring down Rodgers. I’m expecting the Packers to throw the bomb a lot during this game, thinking they can expose the Bears defense like the Giants. I personally don’t think that will happen against the Bears and they will keep Rodgers in check. The Giants looked like a defeated team before they took the field, coming off that horrible loss.

As usual, the Packers will be kicking away from Devin Hester. The Jets said that as well and the two times they accidentally kicked to Devin, he ran it back and was at least one or two tackles away from taking it to the house. I expect the same thing to happen and hopefully he will take it to the house and add to his record. It would be a great slap in the face to the Packers because it was there when it all started in 2006.

I think the Bears win this game..

Bears defeat the Jets in a shootout

Monday, December 27th, 2010

That was one helluva game yesterday. Don’t think I’ve seen a shootout like that in a while. Both defenses had their problems, thankfully the Bears defense made some half time adjustments. Same goes for the offense. I think this season the Bears have made some of the best half time adjustments I’ve ever seen. If you haven’t heard, the Bears and Packers game time has been changed to 3:15 CST kick off time. I’m assuming it’s because it would reel in more viewers and more money. Plus it could be the rival game of the decade, the Bears have a chance to keep the Packers out of the playoffs. Lovie Smith said he already decided to start everyone no matter what… So hopefully it should be a great game in the Bears favor. Anyway, onto the breakdown of the Jets game.

The Bears offense struggled some, but not a lot in the second half. When the third quarter started, someone turned on a switch and it became a shootout. Not something anyone was expecting to happen, especially me. Jay Cutlers only really had two bad plays I can think of right now. One was the pick six and the other was when he decided to hold onto the ball and get sacked. He didn’t do that again in the game and I’m pretty sure Martz chewed him out for holding onto the ball instead of throwing it away. Jay Cutler had four touchdowns on the day though, three passing and one rushing. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him spot on with the ball that way before, and he is now 21-0 when he has a QB rating of over 100. I will give credit to the receivers for not dropping any passes and going for the ball. Johnny Knox had a great day, hauling in two key touchdowns. Hester also had a receiving touchdown as well. It was very comforting that the Bears receivers were able to do whatever they wanted against the Jets vaunted defensive backs. Matt Forte had a great day receiving and running the ball. From what I remember, he became the first running back this season to break the 100 yard mark on the ground against the Jets this season. It was great seeing him run for that touchdown with the help of the offensive line and Greg Olsen. Speaking of the offensive line, they played great out there, besides the few penalties here and there. I was impressed with the way they played against one of the top defenses in the league. Easily their best game of the season in my opinion

The Defense struggled a lot throughout the game. The Jets unfortunately got into a rhythm and just drove down the field like they were a tank. Thankfully they were able to make some halftime adjustments and put a stop to the Jets offense. They were still able to run the ball efficiently through three quarters. They weren’t really able to stop the Jets passing game, up until Chris Harris intercepted Sanchez that sealed the game. I think the Jets took a note from the Patriots and the way they exploited the Bears defense. I just hope that Lovie and company really adjust the way they are playing now. Everyone the Bears are going to face in the playoffs will be looking at the Patriots game and the Jets game for ways to exploit the Bears defense. Even though they were giving up a lot of first downs, they did stop them eventually. If they hadn’t of made some adjustments and had some luck gone their way, this would be a totally different blog entry.

The Special Teams had a great day against the Jets. They were giving the Bears offense great field position the whole game thanks to the threat of Devin Hester. I wish they kicked to him all day, but the few times they did kick to Hester, he almost ran it back for a touchdown. I really hope the Packers didn’t learn their lesson when they kicked to him last time. Robbie Gould had a rare miss that could of affected the outcome of the game in the Jets favor, thankfully it didn’t and the good guys won. I don’t expect it to really affect him much and he will continue to be the same accurate kicker that we all know and cheer for. Brad Maynard had a good game, and had some luck when the ball hit the Jets defender on the last punt of the game. If that didn’t happen I think things would be a lot different right now… Anyway, great win. Bear Down!

Bears vs Jets Prediction

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

The Bears head back home after defeating their division rival and clinching the division on Monday Night Football to face the Jets. It looks like it might be another cold game for the Bears and it could even snow from what I heard. This is from weather.com, “Weather factors: Chilly 20s with north winds approaching 20 mph. Wind blowing end zone to end zone. Watching a potential lake snow band. Will it stay over the lake, or dust the field? Moderate impact.” I’m hoping that it’s good enough to be able to throw the ball accurately because one mistake against the Jets defense and the Bears will pay for it.

The Bears offense will have to survive a defense that thrives on defending the short passes and it’s great defensive backs. Jay Cutler already said he’s not afraid of Darrelle Revis. I don’t mind him saying that but he needs to be aware of Revis, He’s one helluva defensive back that has tremendous pass defending skills. If Cutler is able to defeat Revis in the passing game I will feel a lot better about him throwing the ball. This also means that the line needs to give Cutler enough time to throw the ball. The Jets have a tremendous defensive line and linebacker core that loves to blitz. Heck, even the defensive backs blitz. Everyone on the offensive line needs to protect Jay as if their life depended on it.

They will also have to be dominant when it comes to running the ball. I can’t stress enough about how the Bears need to get off the bus running the ball. If they want to decimate the Jets defense they will need to establish a run game to sell the play action for big yards. Matt Forte and Chester Taylor need to be physical against the Jets D and hold onto the ball for their life. They will be coming after them to create turnovers. Speaking of turnovers, the wide receivers and tight ends need to go after the ball. The Jets defensive backs will not allow Jay to get any easy passes completed. They will be after the ball every time he throws it up.

Alright enough of the offense, it’s down to defense and special teams. The defense is coming off a great game against the Vikings and look to continue that. They were dominate throughout the game except for the Vikings first drive. They settled down after that and were able to bring constant pressure against a very good offensive line. They ultimately got to Brett and took him down for the rest of the season in my opinion.

The Bears will be going up against another wounded quarterback. Mark Sanchez has an injured shoulder, but I don’t think the Bears will be keying on it. That’s not their style. They still need to look out for Mark and the Jets running backs and receivers. Speaking of running backs, LaDanian Tomilson recently said he would run all over the Bears defense on Sunday. I would like to see him try. I think it’s perfect bulletin board material for the Bears defense and I hope they bring that energy that kept them going last game. If they are able to stop the run game, the Bears chances of winning increase greatly. As long as the Bears don’t give up the big plays and play smart they will win this game.

Rex Ryan said already he’s not going to kick to Devin Hester, but he’s not the one kicking the ball. Sometimes punters make mistakes and that’s when Devin burns them with a big return for a touchdown. I have a feeling the Bears will have great field position throughout the game. I would really love for Devin to return one back for a touchdown. It’s the last game of the regular season at home and it would certainly add an exclamation point if the Bears win and Hester returns one to the house…
